Some of my most important memories of my childhood included foraging for fiddleheads with my mother every Mother's Day. Join the fun and learn how to safely and sustainably harvest this springtime delicacy (along with a few others) in this 2-hour guided foraging tour in Renfrew. Grab brekkie or lunch afterwards at one of our cute little restaurants and make a day of it with Mom! Children under 18 are welcome to attend free of charge. Please be aware that these trails are quite steep in places and not appropriate for very small children, strollers, wheelchairs, or anyone with mobility issues.
In the spirit of nurturing, one scholarship is available to a mother in need. Send me an email or message via social media to be considered. Location info will be shared after purchase of ticket to prevent over-harvesting of delicate plants.
Values & Policies at Forager Bee!

At a time when the world is awash in AI generated bullshit, I figured it was time to put my values into words (and easy-to-read social media post format). I got my co-op student to sit down and have a think about what our core values are at Forager Bee.
Firstly, and most glaringly: I am very anti-AI. I do my best to avoid posting AI generated content. I do not generate AI content myself. My presentations, posts, videos, and written content are all created by me or other real people. The reasoning is simple: I want real people to have real jobs doing creative things. I want my friends to be fulfilled and supported financially by the creativity that flows through them. I want to feature their art and their photos, I want to hear their songs and share their content, and above all I want to ensure that I am not just regurgitating information from an AI to my followers. I do my reading and research, I cross reference, and I endeavour to only share information that is true. AI generated foraging information is not just bad, it's dangerous, and it puts the environment, people, and planet I love in danger. From the horrors of data-centre water use to bad information to loss of jobs, I simply see no reason for AI generated foraging content to exist.
Beyond that, I only package in environmentally friendly non-microplastic-leaching glass and other recyclable products, I reuse shipping and packaging materials as much as possible, I buy second-hand any time I can. I believe in co-operation over competition, and value education over gatekeeping. The outdoors is for everyone, and we should all be working together to make this world better not only for humans but for every creature great and small. You are not apart from nature; you are a part of nature.
I personally believe that we should not be worried about getting into a mythical afterlife but should be actively striving to make this very real and very beautiful world into a heaven in the here and now for all to enjoy.
